At an early age, Interstate Snake, born Haris Barekzai, journeyed from Afghanistan to Alexandria, Virginia, with his family, instilled with the principles of hard work, loyalty, and humility by his father's inspiring success story. Eventually settling in Woodbridge, VA, Snake's passion for hip-hop burgeoned as he immersed himself in the sounds of Nas, UGK, Scarface, Jay-Z, Mobb Deep, and Wu Tang. Freestyling in hallways and at lunch tables with friends, Snake, then known as Picasso, painted vivid pictures with his lyrical prowess. Forming the group UNVA, short for "You In VA" and "Up North Virginia," Snake and his crew gained local acclaim, securing spins on hip-hop radio stations and winning an unsigned hype showcase for Washington, DC, sponsored by The Source magazine. From humble beginnings to local stardom, Interstate Snake's journey reflects a commitment to the craft, and his compelling narrative resonates with a growing fan base drawn to his authentic and skillful approach to hip-hop.
